ANTS CONTROL IN GTA:
Pest control company is providing Ants control services in whole GTA.
Each ant species have different control procedure.
Some ants species need to be treated only with bait, while other need to be sprayed.
In few cases we go with bait and insecticide spray together.
It is very important to identify the "what type of ants you have?"
Error in identifying the ants will lead to wrong treatment, which may increase or dispersing of ants to whole house.

MOST COMMON ANTS SPECIES FOUND IN ONTARIO
PAVEMENT ANTS
The pavement ant is a small ant that ranges in color from reddish-brown to black, and from 2 to 4 mm in size. Their legs and antennae are usually lighter in colour than their bodies, and abdomens are darker than the rest of their bodies. Their distinguishing feature is a pair of spines on its back. They prefer sweet and greasy foods.
Pavement ants originating from Europe, were introduced to the North America, and are name after the pavement in which they make their nests in. Pavement ants are usually found under stones, in cracks of pavement and concrete, but they can also be found indoors during the colder months as their usual food sources are not accessible. They can enter building through cracks in the walls and concrete, as well as through gaps in doors and windows.
Call ANTS CONTROL to quickly and safely get rid of any type of ants.
They are mostly active during the warmer months, particularly the early spring in which they become more aggressive and look to expand their colonies. The winged forms of the pavements are the reproductive members of the colony, and are significantly larger than the worker ants. The presence of wings ants usually means that the colony is expanding in size. The winged pavement ants are often found during the warmer months when the colonies are more active, however, if a colony has been created in a warm place such as indoors under warm floors, the colony can remain active even in the winter.
Some ways to prevent pavement ant infestation are to seal any cracks in the walls, and basements of buildings, as well as making sure that the doors and windows are sealed properly so that the ants may not enter. In the case that an infestation does occur, setting bait traps may work, though it is usually best to call a licensed technician who is best aware of how to treat the infestation through the use of bait or insecticides, or a combination of both.

Pharaoh Ants
The pharaoh ant is a small yellow, almost transparent ant known for being a major indoor nuisance pest, especially in hospitals and homes. Originally only found in the tropics, pharaoh ants have been introduced to virtually every area of the world, thriving in even temperate regions.
A pharaoh ant worker is 1.5-2mm long, and is brownish-yellow with a brown abdomen.
Pharaoh ant males are 3mm long, black and winged.
The queen pharaoh ant is 3.5-6mm long, dark red in colour, and has a set of wings.
Queen Pharaoh Ants can lay 400 or more eggs in her lifetime and, unlike most ants, can reproduce throughout the year provided the right environment exists. A single queen can produce many hundreds of workers in just a few months, and the colony can grow to as large as 300,000 or more members.
Unlike most ants, the pharaoh ant colonies contain many queens. Periodically a queen pharaoh ant, together with a few workers, will leave the nest and set up a new colony elsewhere, quickly spreading an infestation.
Nests are often so small that they can be contained in a cap or located between sheets of paper. They prefer dark, warm areas near hot water pipes and heating taps, enabling them to remain active all year round.
Pest Control
Pharaoh ants are usually much harder to control than other ants because of their ability to disperse. There may be dozens or hundreds of colonies in a single 10 x10 room and when a few colonies are missed during control, populations will quickly rebound.
Effective control of the pharaoh ant is often long term, using a baiting solution in every area where the ants are known to forage. In sever infestations of larger buildings, total elimination of pharaoh ants has been known to take up to a year.
Note: DON'T USE HOUSEHOLD SPRAY ON THESE ANTS.
No insecticide should be sprayed on these ants because it will not reduce the infestation, instead spray will increase the infestation.

CARPENTER ANTS
Also known as big black ants. Carpenter ants reach a size of about ½ inches. Carpenter ants are the most common in our neighborhoods. These ants primarily build their nest in decaying wood and are considered to be beneficial insects. Carpenter ants chew through the wood and make galleries. Sometimes carpenter ant infestation is mistaken as termite activity.
Carpenter ants are also known as sugar ants.
They build nests inside wood consisting of galleries chewed out with their jaws, preferably in dead, damp wood. They do not consume the wood, but carpenter ants hollow out sections of trees. They also commonly infest wooden buildings and structures, and are a widespread nuisance. Carpenter ants can cause a major structural damage. One of the most familiar species associated with human habitation in the Canada is the black carpenter ant. Carpenter ants primarily built their nest in decaying wood. Sometimes carpenter ant infestation is mistaken as termite activity.
These ants inside the house or structure chew through lumber and can give a significant damage to beams and Joyce. Usually water damages leads to the carpenter ant infestation.
Carpenter ants are foragers that typically eat parts of other dead insects or substances derived from other insects. Common foods for them include insect parts, "honey dew" produced by aphids, or some secretions from plants.
Carpenter ants can forage individually or in small or large groups, though they often work individually. Different colonies in close proximity may have overlapping foraging regions, though they typically do not assist each other in foraging. Their main food sources normally include proteins and carbohydrates.
When workers find food sources, they communicate this information to the rest of the nest. They use pheromones to mark the shortest path that can be taken from the nest to the source. When a sizable number of workers follow this trail, the strength of the “Q” increases and a trail is established. This trail ends when the food source is removed or finished.
These ants when inside the house or structure chew through lumber and can give a significant damage to beams and Joyce. Usually water damages may lead to the carpenter ant infestation.
For Carpenter ants we use ULV (ultra light volume spray) directly inject to nests in wall, residual spray along interior perimeter, bait application at exterior if required, residual insecticide treatment if ant hills present within a property, insecticide dust around equipment at interior.
Carpenter ants work together, to build the nests in an environment with high humidity due to their sensitivity to humidity. These nests are called primary nests. Satellite nests are constructed once the primary nest is established and has begun to mature. Residents of satellite nests include older larvae, pupae, and some winged individuals. Only eggs, newly hatched larvae, workers, and the queen reside in the primary nests. As satellite nests do not have eggs sensitive to humidity, so carpenter ants can construct them in rather diverse locations dry location. n cause a major structural damage. One of the most familiar species associated with human habitation in the Canada is the black carpenter ant. call Ants Control for further questions.

Argentine ant:
As the use of mulch increases, the infestation of Argentine ants on the rise.
These ants are out door insects, dark brown in colour and almost the same size ¼ inches or less, as odorous house ants.
Usually, these ants make their nest under mulch, along pine tree roots, under rocks, near house foundations, moist cool areas. Whenever you will find colony of these ants, it will be huge.
Tens of thousands of ants will be found. From last 5 years, we (ants’ control.ca) found 33 cases of Argentine ants. Same as other ants, or small black ants, the ants feed on surgery materials and protein. They can invade the house in big number.
